I would like to apologize. There was absolutely no access to computers this weekend. None. I did take lots of pictures but realized that I hate carrying around a purse like camera bag. I missed several great picture opportunities. Maybe I will be able to convince Rachel to scan and send me her pictures.
I had a blast. For now, only highlights.
1) Flirting with a guy in Dick's Supermarket. I walked in and this maybe high school age kid starts giving me the eye. I give him the eye back a little unsure because we are in this very small town at a 24 hour supermarket that is sparsely populated. But anyway, he was cute and black and hanging out with his very young looking girlfriends. This is what tipped me off that they were probably in high school. Anyway, the eyes keep going and the line magically moves in front of me. Turning around, I made a big deal about being caught staring at him. Then he and his girls laughed at me. It was cute. Had I thought about it, I really should have gone up and introduced myself. What was I to be afraid of? Rejection? Don't think so. Nothing was going to happen.
2) The woman who was bit by the jitterbug. New Glarus Community Festival. Carrying beer into a winery and then being told that what I was doing was probably illegal. The woman with the dance flu was crazy. She would come onto the dance floor after every song had a good warmup. Then she would pounce. Her legs would start moving and jumping and kicking. Then her arms would fly above her head or maybe do a little spin in front of her. No movement was every coordinated nor did it look like it belonged with the song. It was wild. Plus Rachel and I got some pretty wicked stares. Me for my faux hawk. Rachel for being with me. I drank a beer called Totally Naked. I wanted to say "This time I think I'll go Totally Naked" but I thought it better to not mess around with the small town folk that did not seem to kind to the likes of me.
3) Madison.
4) Cuba City. I don't even think it should be called a city. But it is the "City of Presidents". This means that along their mainstreet they have plywood cutouts with silhoutted profiles of the Presidents on them. The town wasn't even long enough for each President to get a pole. They only got one side of the pole. It was a cute town though. Even though we were lost and didn't realize it at the time. This made us be able to hit the town from both sides seeing all of the Presidents in their poorly profiled glory. Happy Memorial Day.
5) Cheese. Limburger cheese. Blue cheese. Swiss cheese. Fried cheese curds. Lots and lots of cheese. Never get a limburger cheese sandwich. Rachel and I split it and still could barely gag it all down. I didn't mind it as much as I did. But imagine this....a slice of cheese about the size of a really thick steak in between two pieces of bread thrown on the grill for a matter of seconds. It was just not that fantastic. We definitely overdid ourselves when it came to the first day of cheese.
Well I will post more in the upcoming days. And with corresponding pictures. Woohoo. I will continue to post from Jenorama's computer because mine is sans internet for the moment until we get the internet situation all figured out.
